About Us

Porter Kraus Co. was founded in Omaha in 1918 by Mr. Porter and Mr. Kraus, who specialized in brokering stone aggregates for roads to municipalities in Nebraska and Iowa.

In the 1940s, Mr. Harry Trustin, a former UPRR draftsman and WWI veteran, joined Porter, leading to the transformation of the company into Porter Trustin Company. Together, they ventured into a new sector, supplying windows and doors to commercial contractors. Over the following century, the company's offerings expanded to meet the evolving needs of commercial construction design.

In the 1960s, Mr. Ed Carlson partnered with Trustin, resulting in the establishment of the current company, Porter Trustin Carlson Co. (PTC). Carlson's expertise notably grew the window business, and PTC became the first subcontractor in the Omaha region to provide and install suspended acoustical ceiling systems, along with offering acoustical consulting services.

Arriving in the US in the 1940s, Mr. Gunnar Mossblad, an engineering graduate from Nebraska University at Omaha, formed a partnership with Carlson in 1970.

Following his graduation from UNL College of Engineering in 1975, Mr. Jerry Kuehn embarked on his professional journey at PTC, initially serving as Sales/Estimating personnel. Jerry's engineering background significantly contributed to Porter Trustin's expansion into the medical sector, particularly in providing unistrut support systems for equipment. In 1995, he assumed ownership of the company from Mossblad, preserving its original name as a top-tier supplier and subcontractor of architectural construction building materials.

Jerry Kuehn brought his son-in-law, Preston Bell, on board in 2017. Jerry mentored Preston, sharing insights into the company's century-old heritage. Leveraging his business management degree and construction industry expertise, Preston spearheaded the integration of streamlined processes within the company, securing its growth trajectory following Jerry's retirement.
